Tournaments and tournament rules at Sceptre

Trophy Rules:

Club Trophies shall be held for a period of one year and the winners presented with an engraved memento unless stated otherwise. The holder of each trophy is responsible for its safekeeping whilst in his or her possession.

Competition Rules:

Rule

Description

All competitors may only use one rod, one hook and where appropriate, one float at any one time when fishing Club competitions and matches.

With the exception of plumbing depth, ‘clipping up’ a feeder rod, drawing water used to mix groundbait and introducing keepnets, no water of any swim may be broken on any competition before the signal to start has been given. The introduction of any bait or feed before the competition start is prohibited.

Competitors in Club matches must not fish within 10 metres of their nearest competitor without first obtaining that competitor’s consent, space permitting.

Salmon, Trout, Grayling, Zander, Minnows and Sticklebacks cannot be weighed in.

Matches will be fished “all in”. All eligible fish caught must be weighed in.

Pike cannot be weighed in except for specimen fish and in Pike competitions.

Competitors in Club matches must use their own keepnet and may not share a keepnet for retaining fish.

The Scalesman will be responsible for recording weights at all Club matches and competitions. They shall be in sole charge of any such competitions and their decisions and findings will be final.

No bait boats may be used in any competition.

Carp Weight Limit. Any carp over 3lb will be weighed in as 3lb. Any carp under 3lb will be as weighed. This is for two matches only. Applies to only to matches on Sceptre lake. Committee decide the two matches this will apply too.

For Matches fished at Sceptre Club Lake in Winter (November to February) micro-barbed (size 16-20) hooks maybe used.

Championship Challenge Cup Rules:

The Cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Club Member being credited with the highest number of points from championship matches at the end of the season. Each Members points to be decided from their best 9 matches of the season.

Competitors positions in each match will be determined by the weight of eligible fish weighed in at the end of each match. The heaviest weight will be placed in first position etc, down to the lowest or zero weight that be placed last. All Club matches will be Championship Matches unless specified by the Committee.

The method of awarding the points in matches shall be as follows:

In the event of a tie for any position, total points for the tied positions will be equally divided between all tied competitors.

In the event of a points tie for first place at the end of the season, the Championship shall be decided by the highest aggregate weight over each Competitors best 9 championship matches.

The runner up will receive a cup. No memento will be issued with this cup.

The Best of Species Cups

Rule

Description

01
The following cups shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Club Member who has caught the best fish of each species on any Club match or competition throughout the season and which has been fished in accordance with Club rules.

The Petro-Flex Challenge Cup

Rule

Description

The Cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Member who has caught the best specimen fish on any Club match or competition throughout the year. The best specimen will be decided by fish weight as a percentage of the British Record for the type of fish.

Only fish where the British record exceeds 8 ounces may be entered in this competition.

The Stanreden Challenge Cup

Rule

Description

01
The Cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Club Member who weighs in the heaviest catch of eligible fish on any Club match throughout the season.

The Randall Benevolent Cup

Rule

Description

01
The cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Member who has the heaviest catch of fish at the end of the Randall Benevolent Cup Competition.

The competition will be fished in accordance with Club rules.

The Committee will decide date, time and venue of the competition.

The Singleton Memorial Trophy

Rule

Description

The cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Member who has the heaviest catch of fish at the end of the Singleton Memorial Trophy Competition.

The competition will be fished in accordance with Club rules.

The Committee will decide date, time and venue of the competition.

The Tennant Challenge Cup

Rule

Description

The cup shall be competed for annually and will be awarded to the Member who has the heaviest catch of fish at the end of the Tennant Challenge Cup Competition.

The competition will be fished in accordance with Club rules.

The Committee will decide date, time and venue of the competition.

The Officers' Trophy

Rule

Description

01
The Trophy shall be competed for annually by members of the Club Committee and awarded to the Officer who weighs in the heaviest catch of fish.

No memento will be awarded with this trophy.

Ladies and Juniors
Championship Challenge Cup

Rule

Description

01
The trophy will be competed for annually by Lady and Junior Members of the Club.
02
All rules will be the same as for Championship Challenge Cup, except that the runner-up will receive a medal.

The O'Malley Knockout Challenge Cup

Rule

Description

01
The Trophy shall be competed for annually. Any Club Member may compete in the competition. Any Member wishing to enter this competition must inform the Club Committee prior to the draw taking place for the first round of the competition.

Members wishing to compete for the Trophy will be paired off by means of a draw conducted by the Committee. The first named of each pair shall have the choice of venue and will be responsible for arranging the date, time and a set of scales.

Should a draw result, a return match will take place and the second named of the pair shall have the choice of venue and will be responsible for arranging the date, time and a set of scales.

The Committee shall decide the venue for the final. The date and time can be arranged between the two finalists.

An entrance fee will be payable by all competitors. The Club Committee shall decide the level of fee. All fees will be paid out as prizes; two thirds of the fees will be paid to the winner and one third to the runner-up.
06
Match results must be reported to the Scalesman before the draw for the next round.
07
The runner-up will receive a medal.
08
No weights or specimen fish caught in this competition will be eligible for other Club Trophies.

The Pairs Cup Competition

Rule

Description

01
The Trophy shall be competed for annually. Any Club Member may compete in the competition. Any Member wishing to enter this competition must inform the Club Committee prior to the pairing draw taking place.
02
Members wishing to participate in the competition will be paired into teams of two by means of a draw conducted by the Committee.
03
Six matches will be nominated by the Committee on which to fish the competition.
04
The pair recording the highest number of points over the six matches shall win the competition and each be awarded a pairs cup. Points are to be awarded as follows: The total number of points to the winners of each match will be equal to the total number of pairs entering at the start of the competition. One point less per position in each match will be awarded in sequence to the remaining competing pairs. The position in the match of each pair will be decided by the total weight of each pair.
05
An entrance fee will be payable by all competitors. The Club Committee shall decide the level of fee. All fees will be paid out to the winning pair.
